Tenerife Marlins Secure 16th Spanish Baseball League Title
Tenerife Marlins Puerto de la Cruz secured their 16th Spanish National Baseball League title after sweeping Astros de Valencia in the final series to cap a dominant season.
Tenerife Marlins Puerto de la Cruz has once again proven its dominance in Spanish baseball. The team secured the National Baseball League Gold Division title after defeating Astros de Valencia in the third game of the final playoff series.
The decisive 13-2 victory at the Néstor Pérez field gave the Marlins a 3-0 sweep in the series, capping off a near-perfect season. Under manager Richard Montiel, the team finished the qualifying phase with a flawless 16-0 record and dominated the final phase with a 15-1 mark, leaving little room for their opponents to compete.
This latest trophy marks the club's 16th league title since 2005. Their historical record is remarkable, having won 16 of the 22 championships held during that period, including eight of the last ten.
The club’s season is far from over, however. The Marlins are now preparing to defend their Copa del Rey title in September and will soon make their debut in the Baseball Champions League Europe. This recent success cements their status as the leaders of Spanish baseball as they look to carry their momentum onto the international stage.
