Tenerife Market Boutique Blends Fashion and Retail in Modern Hybrid Shift
The new boutique "Las rosas de Charo" has opened inside Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s Nuestra Señora de África Market, blending traditional food market culture with a modern, omnichannel approach to women’s fashion.
Traditional markets are evolving into hybrid spaces where food and fashion now go hand in hand. A prime example of this trend is "Las rosas de Charo," a new boutique that has opened inside the Nuestra Señora de África Market in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. As reported by Diario de Avisos, the shop brings women’s fashion into a space traditionally dedicated to fresh produce.
The project is led by entrepreneur Lucía Mendoza, who created the boutique as a tribute to her family’s history in the Tenerife textile industry. Drawing inspiration from the eclectic markets of Ibiza, Mendoza aims to surprise shoppers by offering a unique mix of goods in an unexpected setting.
Located on the market’s "Rambla Azul," the business has successfully overcome its unconventional location by embracing an omnichannel strategy. Through active social media and a dedicated e-commerce site, the boutique sells clothing sourced from Turkey, France, and Madrid to customers across Spain, Germany, and France. The shop focuses on inclusivity, offering sizes ranging from 32 to 50, and features footwear from the local brand José Acosta.
The boutique, which is open Tuesday through Sunday, is already planning for growth. Mendoza intends to expand into an adjacent unit this September and plans to launch an original clothing line next year to establish a distinct creative identity. The success of "Las rosas de Charo" shows how food markets can become hubs for new businesses when they combine smart digital marketing with a fresh, modern approach to retail.
