Tenerife Man Arrested for Alleged Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault
A 35-year-old man was arrested in Santa Cruz de Tenerife for allegedly assaulting his 23-year-old partner after she reported he attempted to force her into sexual relations and then physically attacked her.
A 35-year-old man was arrested by local police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife early this Thursday morning for allegedly assaulting his 23-year-old partner. The incident took place at their home in the García Escámez area.
Police were alerted after receiving a call from the woman reporting a possible case of domestic violence.
They arrived at the apartment around 2:00 AM after the woman called for help, saying she had been attacked by her partner.
According to the victim, her partner came home late and drunk and tried to force her into sexual relations. She refused, according to the Local Police statement.
He then reportedly began pushing and hitting her, prompting her to call for help.
Police say this isn't the first time something like this has happened. The woman, who was very distressed, was informed of her rights and the support available to her.
A police car took the victim to a medical center, while other officers arrested the man, who was found asleep in a room in the house.
He was taken to the police station and will be brought to court in connection with the incident.
