Tenerife: Major Industrial Fire at Güímar Warehouse
Firefighters are battling a large industrial fire that erupted early Sunday morning at a hydraulic systems warehouse in Tenerife's Güímar industrial area, with concerns it could spread to nearby buildings.
A large firefighting operation is underway in Tenerife to tackle a complex industrial fire that started early Sunday morning in the Güímar industrial area. Emergency services reported that the fire is at a warehouse specializing in hydraulic systems.
The first call came into 112 Canarias around 7:00 AM, warning that the fire could spread to other buildings in the industrial complex. Firefighters confirmed this when they arrived. Fires like this in industrial areas are often extra challenging because of the materials stored there and how close the buildings are to each other.
Fire crews from Güímar, Santa Cruz, and La Laguna have been sent to the scene. Volunteer firefighters from Güímar and La Laguna are also helping, showing the strong teamwork needed to handle such big emergencies on the islands. Firefighters are still working to get the fire under control and put it out completely.
