Tenerife Libby's La Laguna Signs Bulgarian Hitter Darina Kumanova

Tenerife Libby's La Laguna is boosting its team during the winter transfer window. They've signed outside hitter Darina Kumanova for the rest of the season. Kumanova, a Bulgarian player who can attack from different positions, is new to Spain's top league, the Liga Iberdrola. She joins a team that's been doing well after some recent new players. She previously played for CD Fiaes in Portugal, where she worked with the club's current coach, Ricardo Lemos.

Kumanova told the club's media that she was drawn by "the team's competitive spirit, the high standard of the Spanish league, and the appeal of Tenerife." She felt it was "the right decision." She also mentioned her previous experience with Coach Lemos, saying she "really enjoyed working with him." This connection was "another reason that excited me about joining the team." She described his coaching as "very calm and professional, paying attention to details and focused on helping his players improve."

This will be her first time playing in the Liga Iberdrola, a league she has been watching closely and where she hopes to give her best. "I know the Spanish league is very competitive and has many talented and experienced players," she said. "I'm very excited; I want to challenge myself, learn from my teammates, and compete against strong teams."

Kumanova also spoke about the fans at Pablos Abril, saying she's heard that when the arena is full, "you can really feel the warmth from the stands." The enthusiastic new Libby's player concluded, "I want to get to the Island now, feel the fans, and give my best on the court to represent the club."
