Tenerife Libby’s La Laguna hosts defending champions Heidelberg Volkswagen this Saturday at the Pablos Abril Pavilion for the opening match of their Iberdrola Women's Volleyball League semifinal series.

The Iberdrola Women's Volleyball League reaches a critical point this weekend as the semifinals begin. Tenerife Libby’s La Laguna will host Heidelberg Volkswagen this Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at the Pablos Abril Pavilion for the first match of their best-of-three series.

This matchup is a major test for both teams as they compete for a spot in the national final. Tenerife enters the series with strong momentum, having won nine of their last twelve matches and recently eliminating Avarca de Menorca in the quarterfinals. Their opponents, the defending champions from Gran Canaria, advanced after defeating Haro Rioja Voley in two straight matches.

Tenerife coach Ricardo Lemos is focusing his team on the tactical challenge of facing a physically imposing and experienced opponent. Although Tenerife beat Heidelberg 3-2 during the regular season, Lemos warned that playoff matches are a different challenge, where the pressure often changes the dynamic of the game.

With the series being so short, home-court advantage is vital. Tenerife is counting on a strong turnout from their fans at the Pablos Abril Pavilion to help them overcome the reigning champions. According to the coaching staff, the team’s ability to maintain their home-court composure will be the key to taking an early lead in the series.
