Tenerife Libby’s La Laguna is restructuring its squad and expanding its roster under head coach Ricardo Lemos to improve consistency and prepare for a competitive European campaign next season.

Tenerife Libby’s La Laguna is already planning for next season after a year defined by inconsistent results. Club president David Martín described the campaign as a positive experience, despite the team’s elimination in the Liga Iberdrola playoff semifinals by Heidelberg. While management acknowledges that the team’s performance was lacking during the first half of the season, they praised the squad's ability to bounce back from January onwards, which ultimately secured their spot in the final stages of the championship.

The board noted that the semifinal series was decided by the smallest of margins, with two 3-2 losses. Martín pointed out that these results highlighted the importance of home-court advantage and the need for more consistency in opening matches. To address these issues, the club is restructuring its squad. Head coach Ricardo Lemos, who earned a contract renewal after meeting his sporting targets, will remain at the helm to lead a project designed to meet the demands of European volleyball.

The club is also shifting its approach to team management. The goal is to build a larger roster, in line with continental standards, to handle the heavy schedule of the Challenge Cup. Having finished as runners-up in the competition in 2022, the club views the tournament as the perfect stage to raise its competitive level and promote the Tenerife brand internationally.

Recruitment for the 2026/27 season is already well underway. The club has confirmed a solid base of returning players and is close to signing a high-profile international athlete who has been in demand across Europe. Despite the logistical and financial challenges of operating from the Canary Islands—such as reduced sponsorship opportunities when multiple island teams compete in the same league—the board remains optimistic. The club aims not only for immediate success but also to establish itself as a prestigious platform for talent, helping players move on to the world’s most competitive leagues. According to the president, this approach strengthens the reputation of Haris within the professional volleyball community.
