The Tenerife Island Council has launched "Youth Summer 2026," a program designed to provide young people with meaningful opportunities during the school break. Running until September 20, the initiative offers 163 free activities across the island.
More than just a leisure program, this project focuses on social support, offering technical training and career guidance. By working with the Youth Information Center and local projects like NOE and PONOS, the Council is distributing resources directly to local municipalities. This allows each town to tailor activities to the specific needs of its young residents.
The program covers a wide range of interests, including outdoor activities, healthy living, cultural workshops, and forums for civic debate. These efforts aim to tackle high youth unemployment by using the summer months to boost personal development and job readiness. The program will conclude in La Orotava with "Youth Art in the Street," a final event celebrating the creative talent of local young people.
