Tenerife’s Island Council has launched a €430,000 grant program to expand access to performing arts across the island by co-financing municipal cultural projects through May 2027.

Tenerife is boosting its local arts scene with a new round of funding for the Municipal Performing Arts Spaces Network (REEM). The Island Council’s Department of Culture, Museums, and Sports has announced the 2026 grant guidelines, aiming to make theater, music, and dance more accessible to residents living outside the island's main cities.

A total of 430,000 euros is available through a competitive application process. Under this co-financing model, the Island Council will cover up to 50% of project costs—or up to 70% for dance-related proposals—with local councils providing the remainder. Each municipality is limited to one application.

The grants cover a wide range of activities, including hosting performances, training technical staff, conducting research, and supporting artistic residencies. Projects must be carried out between June 2026 and May 2027.

Beyond easing the financial pressure on local governments, this initiative aims to build a stable, professional network of cultural venues across the island. By encouraging collaboration between municipalities, the Council hopes to bridge the gap in cultural access caused by Tenerife’s challenging geography and dispersed population.

Municipalities now have 20 days to submit their applications online. This long-term funding structure is designed to help local managers plan their seasons with greater certainty and consistency.
