Tenerife's El Rosario City Council has banned swimming along the Tabaiba coast and closed El Moro beach after a landslide damaged the sewage system, prompting a call for residents in eastern Tabaiba to temporarily avoid using the wastewater network.

El Rosario City Council has banned swimming along the entire coast of Tabaiba and closed El Moro beach in Tenerife. This decision comes after a landslide and a large falling rock damaged the sewage system early on Wednesday morning.

The incident has also led to a ban on walking and swimming along the coast between Radazul and Tabaiba, for safety and public health reasons, according to the council.

In a local order, Mayor Escolástico Gil has temporarily advised against using the sewage system in the eastern part of Tabaiba. This affects residents on Denmark, Italy, Holland, Portugal, France, and Belgium streets.

Specifically, the City Council asks people to avoid, until further notice, flushing toilets, taking showers or baths, and using washing machines. They also ask people not to put any household or industrial wastewater into the system, or do anything else that adds a lot of water to the sewage network.

The city council is asking for everyone's full cooperation and thanks them for understanding the inconvenience this unusual situation is causing, while crews work to fix the damage and get things back to normal in the affected area.
