Tenerife towns and cities are illuminating their Christmas lights a month earlier than usual this week, including major displays in Santa Cruz and La Laguna, to kickstart the festive shopping season.

Most towns and cities in Tenerife are turning on their Christmas lights this week, a month earlier than usual. This fills the island's sky with a festive glow, welcoming the year's most anticipated celebration. Local councils want to start the Christmas shopping season early to help local businesses, especially by taking advantage of Black Friday sales.

Last Thursday, Santa Cruz de Tenerife was the first to kick off the Christmas season. The island's capital lit up with over 4.5 million bulbs, drawing thousands of families to the event. The city created a magical Disney-themed display, considered one of the most beautiful light shows ever. The city council chose to start the Christmas period over a month before December 25th, inviting everyone to enjoy this spectacular island decoration.

Other towns, such as Candelaria and Arico, have also already switched on their Christmas lights.

San Cristóbal de La Laguna is another major city vying with the capital for the best Christmas lights. This year's theme is "The Sky of the Canary Islands," and its display opens this Friday. La Laguna is known for its stunning lights, decorations, and the magical atmosphere it creates in its historic center. The mix of its unique setting and the Christmas lights makes it perfect for a stroll, sparking your imagination, and enjoying the festive build-up. Also, this Saturday, there will be a 'Noche en Blanco' (White Night) event, featuring cultural activities in the streets and extended shopping hours.

Many other towns have also confirmed they will turn on their Christmas lights starting this week.
