Tenerife and Red Eléctrica will continue their collaboration to prevent forest fires.
The Cabildo of Tenerife and Red Eléctrica have extended their collaboration until 2029 to prevent forest fires on the island, focusing on the protection of areas near electrical installations and environmental education.
The Cabildo of Tenerife and the company Red Eléctrica have agreed to extend their collaboration for another 4 years, until 2029. Together, they will work to prevent forest fires and reduce their danger. This will help preserve the beautiful forests on the island of Tenerife.
The agreement stipulates that they will cooperate to prevent fires near Red Eléctrica's electrical installations on the island. They will also educate people on how to prevent fires.
Blanca Pérez, who is responsible for ecology and emergency situations, said that such agreements help protect nature. It is especially important to take care of the areas near substations to reduce the risk of fires.
Under the agreement, the parties will coordinate their actions and determine how to manage vegetation under power lines. They will also work together on projects that will help prevent fires and raise public awareness.
Ainhara Irigoyen from Redeia noted that this agreement is part of the company's strategy, which includes supporting environmental measures and training. This will help protect the environment and improve the company's operations.
Redeia is allocating 80,000 euros for this agreement (20,000 each year). This money will be used to purchase materials, conduct training for fire brigades, clear the forest of deadwood, and conduct environmental education activities.
Cooperation with the authorities of Tenerife is part of Redeia's larger strategy aimed at having a positive impact on society.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the authorities and the company: Director of Ecology Pedro Millán and Head of the Red Eléctrica Department Vidina León.
