Tenerife Hosts Sixth Annual Fuera de Campo Film Conference to Boost Regional Industry
The sixth edition of the Fuera de Campo Film School in Tenerife will host a series of free masterclasses and screenings featuring industry experts to bolster the Canary Islands' role as a collaborative hub for independent cinema.
Tenerife is strengthening its position as a key hub for the Ibero-American film industry with the latest conference from the Fuera de Campo Film School. The event aims to bring high-level film training outside of major capitals, focusing on the collaborative side of filmmaking—a vital approach as independent cinema looks for new ways to thrive alongside major streaming platforms.
Now in its sixth year and led by filmmaker Jose Alayón, the program has removed all entry fees to make the event more accessible. Most activities will take place at TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes on November 3, 4, 5, 10, 17, and 18. The schedule includes five masterclasses, a panel discussion, and film screenings followed by Q&A sessions with the directors.
This year’s lineup features eleven experts from various creative and technical fields. Highlights include Filmin director Jaume Ripoll and producer Adrià Monés, alongside acclaimed filmmakers like Lucrecia Martel, José Luis Guerín, Simón Mesa Soto, and Diego Céspedes. Local talent will also be well-represented by screenwriter Valentina Viso, art director Silvia Navarro, musician Alba Gil Aceytuno, photographer Lilia Ana Ramos, and artist Daniasa Curbelo.
To attend the training sessions, participants must register through the organization’s website. Screenings and debates are open to the public, with tickets available starting Monday, October 19, via official TEA channels.
The event will also reach the university community with a special session at the University of La Laguna’s Paraninfo. The film La lucha will be screened, followed by a discussion with director Jose Alayón and actor Tomasín Padrón. Supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Cabildo of Tenerife, the University of La Laguna, and TEA, this initiative continues to build a vital support network for professional filmmaking in the Canary Islands.
