Tenerife is hosting the seventh annual Lo Que Viene festival, reinforcing its position as a major hub for the Spanish film and television industry through professional networking and the launch of a new talent development laboratory.

Tenerife has cemented its status as a key hub for Spanish film and television production this week with the seventh annual Lo Que Viene festival. Organized by the Association of Cinematographic Reporters of Spain (AICE), the event has turned the island into a central meeting point for the industry, drawing over 200 national professionals—most of whom traveled from the mainland—and expecting more than 2,000 public attendees.

Running until next Thursday at venues including La Recova and TEA (Tenerife Espacio de las Artes), the festival serves as more than just a conference; it acts as a development lab for the industry. Island Council President Rosa Dávila noted that the event is part of a broader strategy to connect local creators with major national players. The program features technical sessions focused on the local sector, featuring representatives from the PCTT, the Canary Islands Government, local production companies, and firms like Secuoya Content Group.

A major highlight this year is the launch of the Lo Que Viene Awards and a new series laboratory. After receiving 150 proposals, the initiative will provide mentoring to emerging talent from June 2026 to January 2027. The winning project will be revealed at the 2027 Feroz Awards and receive a 5,000-euro grant, underscoring AICE’s commitment to supporting new content creators.

AICE president Alicia García de Francisco explained that the festival, which began in 2018, was created to provide a space for relaxed, meaningful dialogue between the press and the industry, away from the pressure of red-carpet events. While the next Feroz Awards gala is already set for Pontevedra, both the organizers and the Island Council have expressed interest in Tenerife hosting the main ceremony in the future—a move that would firmly establish the island as a premier destination on Spain’s cinematic map.
