Tenerife Hosts Second ‘Renueva Hogar’ Fair to Boost Construction Sector

The Canary Islands’ construction and renovation sector is looking to strengthen its role in the local economy with the second edition of the Renueva Hogar fair, now open at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Trade Fair Center. The event, which runs until Sunday, serves as a strategic hub where government officials and private businesses meet to boost the home improvement market.

This gathering is more than just a trade show. The Cabildo of Tenerife has highlighted the fair as a key driver for specialized jobs and a prime example of public-private partnership. During the opening ceremony, island vice president Lope Afonso described the event as part of a broader plan to provide residents with better technical solutions while creating opportunities for local companies. Industry Minister Manuel Fernández also emphasized construction as a vital economic engine, noting that 45 exhibitors are on-site to showcase everything from smart home technology to renewable energy systems.

The fair is a direct response to the rising demand for modernizing housing across the islands. Beyond acting as a marketplace for services—ranging from carpentry and air conditioning to security and modular building—the event also serves as a center for technical learning. The program includes training sessions on energy efficiency and real estate advice, addressing the growing need for sustainable, cost-effective home improvements.

Óscar Izquierdo, president of the Tenerife builders' association, praised the event for providing practical solutions to homeowners. With over 10,000 visitors expected, the fair is preparing for its busiest days this weekend. Entry is free, allowing the public to compare services and receive expert advice in one place. The initiative underscores the industry's commitment to innovation and professional standards, both of which are essential for ensuring safe and efficient home renovations.
