
Tenerife Hosts Packed Weekend of Cultural, Sporting and Traditional Events
Tenerife is hosting a diverse array of cultural, musical, and sporting events this weekend, ranging from film screenings and anniversary concerts to traditional pilgrimages, in anticipation of Canary Islands Day.
Tenerife’s cultural and leisure scene is booming this weekend, thanks to a successful mix of public and private efforts. With Canary Islands Day approaching, the island is hosting over a hundred events, ranging from wine fairs and folklore performances to activities for children.
For film lovers, TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes is screening In Our Day, the latest movie from South Korean director Hong Sang-soo. The film, which premiered at the Berlinale, explores family and personal relationships and will be shown at 7:00 p.m. in its original language with subtitles.
Traditional music is also a highlight this weekend. On Saturday at 8:00 p.m., the Teatro Leal in La Laguna will host the final concert of Los Sabandeños’ 60th-anniversary tour, celebrating a group that has become a symbol of Canarian culture. Meanwhile, in Los Realejos, the traditional pilgrimage in honor of San Isidro Labrador and Santa María de la Cabeza takes place this Sunday. Following a morning church service, the festivities will wrap up with a street dance featuring orchestras Sabrosa, Tropin, and Grupo LD.
In sports, the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium will host a women’s football match between CD Tenerife and RC Deportivo this Sunday at 12:00 p.m., showcasing the rising popularity of the sport on the island. This diverse lineup of events highlights the ongoing effort to keep the island vibrant, boosting both the local economy and community spirit during the holiday.
