Tenerife's president welcomed international star Can Yaman for his first Spanish-language project, highlighting the island's growing film industry, economic benefits, and the importance of tax incentives for productions.

Rosa Dávila, the president of Tenerife's island government (Cabildo de Tenerife), shared her pride that the island is hosting the first Spanish-language project from international star Can Yaman. She welcomed him at the island's Palace. Dávila explained that "these kinds of productions don't just highlight our island's beauty and talent; they also create jobs and boost the economy."

She also pointed out that last year, Tenerife saw 145 film and TV productions. These brought in €64.9 million for the economy. The industry hired 3,692 technical and artistic staff, which was a 12.52% increase from 2023, and also employed 4,927 extras. These numbers show how hard everyone is working to make Tenerife a top global spot for creative productions.

Dávila stressed how important the tax breaks are, which come from the Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF) and are designed for film and TV projects in Tenerife and across the Canary Islands. She said, "Making these incentives stronger doesn't just help the film, TV, and innovative industries; it also helps our economy grow in different ways, opening up new opportunities in developing sectors."

She highlighted that these tax incentives encourage sustainable economic activity and are crucial for creating good jobs in tech and creative fields. She added that specialized training and investments in infrastructure are vital to establish the Canary Islands as a major international hub for film and TV, making it an appealing place for investment.

Secuoya Studios is currently producing an ambitious eight-episode romantic thriller. It stars Can Yaman, famous for his roles in 'Sandokan,' 'El Turco,' and 'Viola come il mare.' This project is his first Spanish-language series and his first time working in Spain.

Eduardo Galdo, who also created the original idea, is an executive producer for the series. He previously worked on 'La Encrucijada,' which had some scenes filmed in Tenerife. Lele Portas ('Heridas') is also an executive producer. Ángela Obón ('4 estrellas') and Daniel Corpas ('Cuando nadie nos ve') wrote the script, promising a story packed with mystery, action, and deep emotions.

This new show is the second big drama from Secuoya Studios Stories. Their previous success was 'La Encrucijada,' which became the most-watched Spanish drama premiere of the year on Antena 3.
