Tenerife Honors Breast Cancer Advocates at Annual Carrera por la Vida Gala
The Carrera por la Vida Foundation is hosting a gala at Tenerife’s Infanta Leonor Auditorium tonight to honor individuals, healthcare professionals, and organizations for their significant contributions to breast cancer research and patient support.
Tenerife is once again shining a spotlight on the fight against breast cancer tonight. The Carrera por la Vida Foundation is hosting a ceremony at the Infanta Leonor Auditorium in Los Cristianos at 7:00 p.m. to honor the individuals, organizations, and healthcare professionals dedicated to supporting patients.
The event celebrates a wide range of contributions, from scientific research to community and corporate support. In the field of medicine, Dr. Alberto Jiménez Schumacher, head of the Molecular Oncology Group at the Health Research Institute of Aragon, will be recognized for his groundbreaking work in treating breast cancer in men—a field that requires specialized clinical attention.
The gala also highlights the importance of reaching patients outside of major urban centers. The Fuerteventura Metastatic Breast Cancer Association will be honored for its vital work in ensuring equitable access to care on a non-capital island. Additionally, the Armada Sur group, associated with Club Deportivo Tenerife, will receive the Social Initiative award for ten years of dedicated community support.
Corporate partners are also being celebrated for their essential roles. The Siam Mall, which serves as a hub for local mobilization in Adeje and Arona, is being recognized for its operational support. The company Canaragua will receive the 2026 Special Award for a decade of funding the foundation’s solidarity calendar, and Radio Televisión Canaria will be honored for its efforts in public awareness and disease prevention.
Brigitte Gypen, president of the Foundation, notes that these awards are more than just a gesture of gratitude; they highlight the importance of strategic partnerships in keeping care projects alive. Tonight’s event serves as a testament to the Canary Islands' commitment to the cause, showing how the combined efforts of the private sector, the media, and the scientific community are vital to improving the lives of patients and their families.
