A simulated fuel spill at a Los Realejos gas station on October 22nd will test emergency response coordination between various Canary Islands agencies.

The Los Realejos Town Hall and the Canary Islands government's emergency services are running a practice drill on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the Repsol Palo Blanco gas station. The drill will simulate a fuel spill that could cause a fire or explosion.

Starting at 11:00 a.m. and lasting until about 1:00 p.m., the exercise is part of a special plan for handling dangerous goods transported on Canary Island roads, as well as the gas station's own safety plan.

The simulation will include fake smoke and a pretend fuel leak. This will test how well different emergency teams respond, including the 1-1-2 emergency call center, Los Realejos police, Tenerife firefighters, ambulance services, Civil Guard, National Police, the Tenerife government, the Canary Islands government, and the Los Realejos Town Hall.

The Town Hall says the goal is to see how quickly everyone responds, how well they communicate, and how well the different emergency services and management teams work together if a real emergency happens.

The Town Hall wants to remind everyone that this is just a drill. They ask for your patience and cooperation if there are any traffic delays or movement of emergency workers in the area during the simulation.
