A garage fire in La Laguna, Tenerife, damaged five vehicles, caused one person to suffer smoke inhalation, and prompted the evacuation of about a dozen residents.

On Sunday afternoon, a garage fire in Tenerife damaged five vehicles and left one person with smoke inhalation.

The fire broke out on Primera Transversal del Camino La Villa, in La Laguna. Police are investigating what caused it.

It started in one of the cars parked in the building's shared garage. In total, four cars and a motorcycle were damaged.

Thick smoke poured out of the garage. Because of this, Local Police officers safely evacuated about a dozen people from the building to protect them from the smoke.

Emergency services, including municipal police, firefighters from San Benito Park and La Laguna, and an ambulance from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC), all responded.

Firefighters put out the blaze in the garage and then ventilated the shared space.

Paramedics took an elderly person, who had been evacuated and suffered from smoke inhalation, to a medical center.
