Tenerife Extends Partnership with Spanish Basketball Federation Through 2028
The Spanish Basketball Federation and the Island Council of Tenerife have extended their partnership through the 2027/2028 season, maintaining the island's branding on national team kits to promote tourism and support local youth sports.
The Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) and the Island Council of Tenerife have extended their partnership through the 2027/2028 season, cementing the island’s role as a key sponsor of Spain’s senior national teams alongside Endesa and Caixabank.
This agreement is a central part of Tenerife’s strategy to promote the island in major tourism markets. As part of the deal, the Tenerife brand will continue to appear on official team kits, leisure wear, and advertising materials during training sessions and international matches. While the Island Council is pleased with the current return on investment, they aim to further develop local youth sports by using the national teams as inspiration for the island's young athletes.
The partnership has already brought success, notably when the women’s U18 team trained in Tenerife before winning their continental title. Looking ahead, local authorities hope to host the senior men’s national team for upcoming FIBA qualifying games later this year and in February. Their sponsorship status gives them a strong advantage when bidding to host such events.
FEB president Elisa Aguilar described the extension as a long-term project that reaches beyond Spain’s borders. Lope Afonso, Vice President of the Island Council, added that the investment reflects the island’s commitment to the values of basketball. By signing this deal, Tenerife ensures its brand will remain a fixture in elite basketball for the next four years.
