Tenerife Expands Motorhome Service Network With New Buenavista del Norte Facility
Tenerife has opened a new motorhome service point in Buenavista del Norte to improve waste management and support sustainable tourism across the island.
Tenerife has expanded its network of facilities for motorhome travelers with a new service point in Buenavista del Norte. According to the Island Council, this is the first facility of its kind in the Isla Baja region, addressing a growing need for proper waste management in the island’s northwest.
The new site allows travelers to empty wastewater tanks and refill their drinking water. Providing these essential services is a key step in preventing the environmental damage caused by illegal dumping in natural areas. The island’s strategy is already proving effective; in the six weeks leading up to this opening, the four existing centers in Arona, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and La Guancha served 911 users. Arona saw the highest demand with 543 visitors, followed by Jagua with 239 and La Guancha with 129.
Blanca Pérez, the Minister of Natural Environment, Sustainability, Security, and Emergencies, stated that this initiative meets a long-standing request from travelers while ensuring that tourism remains compatible with environmental protection. Alejandro Molowny, the Island Director of Waste, added that the goal is to eventually integrate these services into all of the island’s waste management centers to ensure caravan users have access to approved facilities.
The Buenavista del Norte site will follow the same operating hours as the rest of the island’s network. To help travelers adjust to these services, the Island Council offers a dedicated helpline at 900 305 000 for any technical questions. Through these efforts, the local government aims to professionalize motorhome tourism and ensure that travelers can follow environmental regulations across the island.
