TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes is hosting a free exhibition by local artist Sergio Torres that reimagines Pokémon iconography through the lens of urban muralism until August 28th.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is currently hosting a unique exhibition that blends late 20th-century pop culture with modern urban art. According to the Youth Information Center (CIJ), TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes is displaying a collection that reimagines Pokémon iconography through the lens of muralism. The exhibition runs until August 28th.

The artist behind the project is 23-year-old Sergio Torres from El Sauzal, known by the pseudonym "Ayer vi un erizo" (Yesterday I saw a hedgehog). Torres, who began his career in the skate and hip-hop scenes of Los Realejos, has transitioned from urban calligraphy to a figurative style centered on digital creatures. For him, these characters are more than just visual subjects; they are a way to explore generational nostalgia and the lasting impact of childhood memories on adult identity.

His choice of artistic name reflects this theme, highlighting how past experiences shape his work. The exhibition is part of the "CIJ Enseña" program, an initiative by the Cabildo de Tenerife designed to help emerging local artists showcase their work in professional, non-profit spaces.

The exhibition is free to the public and located on the ground floor of the TEA complex on Calle Fuente Morales. It is open Monday through Friday, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Through this project, the center aims to bridge the gap between street art and the collective experiences of a generation that grew up with video games and animation as a core part of their visual language.
