A multi-agency rescue operation successfully evacuated a French hiker with a moderate knee injury from a challenging trail in Tenerife on Saturday.

Emergency services in the Canary Islands proved their effectiveness this Saturday when they rescued a French hiker. She had suffered an injury on a trail above Santiago del Teide, Tenerife, in a hard-to-reach area.

The Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 112 reported that the incident required many different teams. It highlights how challenging mountain activities are in the archipelago and how well public services work together.

The accident happened at 2:01 PM on February 21, 2026, when emergency services were alerted to the woman's situation. She had fallen and suffered a moderate knee injury, meaning she needed help and had to be evacuated from a difficult part of the municipality.

To handle the situation, 112 called in a basic life support ambulance from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC), personnel from the Tenerife Fire Consortium, Civil Guard agents, and the Local Police. Firefighters played a crucial role, locating the injured hiker and transporting her by an all-terrain vehicle to where the medical teams were waiting.

Once SUC personnel had stabilized her, the hiker was taken to the Hospital del Norte for specialized medical attention. Police forces actively helped with the coordination and security of the operation, ensuring the rescue and evacuation tasks went smoothly. This type of intervention shows how important it is to be properly prepared and equipped when hiking on the islands' mountainous routes.
