Tenerife Drug Dealer Arrested After Attacking Police, Cocaine Seized
A 36-year-old man was arrested in Santa Cruz de Tenerife early Friday morning for alleged drug dealing and assaulting a police officer while attempting to flee, after police responded to a disturbance near Avenida Francisco La Roche.
Early Friday morning, police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife arrested a 36-year-old man for allegedly selling drugs.
He's also facing charges for attacking a police officer while trying to escape.
The man had €1,485 and ten doses of cocaine on him, which he tried to get rid of.
The police operation started around 2:00 AM near Avenida Francisco La Roche, after officers responded to a loud argument between a man and a woman outside a bar.
When they arrived, they saw a man trying to jump into a taxi that already had a passenger.
The officers identified the man, who was acting strangely.
As they were about to search him, he ran towards José Zárate y Penichet Street. Several officers chased him on foot, and a police car tried to cut him off.
When an officer caught him, the man resisted arrest, and they both fell to the ground. He was eventually restrained and handcuffed because he was so aggressive, police said.
These events happened near a small ravine. During the search, police found the €1,485 and a bag of cocaine.
Suspecting he had thrown other drugs into the ravine while running, police used a dog unit.
A handler and the dog, Triana, found nine more bags of cocaine, ready for sale, in nearby bushes.
At that point, the man became very agitated and was taken to a medical center.
Afterward, he was taken to police headquarters with the money and drugs and handed over to the courts.
