Tenerife Director, Alicante Composer's Video Unites Toledo Community
Tenerife filmmaker Fran Casanova's music video Donde habitan los sueños, featuring the Óscar Navarro Symphony Orchestra and over 400 Noblejas residents, has quickly become popular for its blend of storytelling, orchestral music, and celebration of community spirit.
Tenerife filmmaker Fran Casanova (born in La Orotava in 1977) is the director behind Donde habitan los sueños (Where Dreams Reside). This music video features the Óscar Navarro Symphony Orchestra, led by composer, conductor, clarinetist, and educator Óscar Navarro, who hails from Alicante. Navarro is also known for many other works, including the music celebrating the tenth anniversary of King Felipe VI's proclamation in 2024.
Óscar Navarro (born in Novelda in 1981) produced the music video, which received funding from the Noblejas City Council in Toledo. It stars actress Xenia Tostado alongside young actors Jael Borrás and Mila Borrás. Since its release last Sunday, the video quickly gained popularity, reaching about 12,000 views on Navarro's YouTube channel by Thursday. The music is also available on major digital streaming platforms.
Filmed in Noblejas and set on Three Kings' Night, Donde habitan los sueños blends storytelling with orchestral music. It captures the spirit of Christmas through the experiences of a family and the heart of a town. Fran Casanova wrote and directed this project, which also involved fellow Canary Islander Javier Arias (known as Ja Doria) as the director of photography and camera operator.
The project brought together more than 400 residents from the Toledo town. They were joined during filming by 50 professional musicians and a children's choir of 40 voices. This initiative highlights community unity, shared excitement, and the way culture can bring people together.
The Óscar Navarro Symphony Orchestra aims to promote Spanish symphonic music and emphasize the importance of community involvement in smaller towns.
"It's moving to see an entire town come together to share a common dream," said Óscar Navarro. "This project shows that music can still unite people, especially during special times like Christmas." Navarro has pushed his artistic vision further by combining music, cinema, and the active participation of an entire community in this unique experience.
Notably, Navarro, who has created a wide range of music for films and for symphonic and chamber groups, previously composed the soundtracks for Fran Casanova's short films: Ayúdame a recordar (2012), Hay algo en la oscuridad (2017), and Mask of Sanity (2018).
