The Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife begins the trial this Monday of a man accused of sexually assaulting a minor near her school, with prosecutors seeking a four-year prison sentence.

The Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will begin the trial of a man accused of sexually assaulting a minor this Monday at 9:30 a.m. Prosecutors are seeking a four-year prison sentence, citing evidence that the crime took place near a school in the capital of Tenerife.

According to the indictment, the defendant had been stalking the victim, monitoring her daily routine near the school. The assault allegedly occurred when the man intercepted the girl on a public street as she was walking home from class. The attack ended only after the victim called for help, prompting a bystander to intervene.

To protect the victim, the court has already issued a restraining order, prohibiting the defendant from coming within 200 meters of the girl or her school. The legal proceedings began after the victim’s grandfather filed an initial complaint, which was later confirmed in court by her mother.

In addition to the requested prison time, the prosecution is seeking 1,000 euros in compensation for moral damages. They are also demanding that the defendant cover all costs for the victim’s past and future medical and psychological care to support her recovery.
