The Tenerife Island Council's Roads department will undertake a five-month, 1,032,111-euro project to repair and strengthen a faulty bridge on the TF-4 highway at the southern entrance to Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The Tenerife Island Council's Roads department will repair and strengthen a bridge on the TF-4 highway, located around the 1.8-kilometer mark at the southern entrance to Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This bridge is above the Port of La Hondura.

The project will cost 1,032,111 euros (including tax) and is expected to take five months to complete, starting once the contract is awarded.

Dámaso Arteaga, the Tenerife Island Council's Minister of Roads, said the work is needed because a technical inspection found several faults in the bridge. These issues must be addressed to ensure it remains in good condition. He added that this project involves one of the main routes into and out of the capital, which carries a lot of traffic.

The work will involve removing damaged concrete and replacing it, treating rusted steel, and replacing the bridge's steel bars. They will also clean surfaces exposed after the old concrete is removed and apply special bonding agents to strengthen the link between the existing and new concrete. Additionally, the project will include installing drainage pipes to stop rainwater from running over the bridge's structural elements.
