The Tenerife Island Council has transferred the management of transport to the Masca ravine to its public company Titsa, effective today, December 3, aiming to improve efficiency, sustainability, and conservation of the sensitive natural area.

The Tenerife Island Council has announced a change in how transport to the Masca ravine is managed. Starting today, Wednesday, December 3, the island's public transport company, Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife (Titsa), will take over this service.

Previously, the service was run by Alsa. The Island Council is now managing it directly to improve efficiency, better coordinate with local authorities, and move towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly transport system.

To help regulate access to Masca, one of Tenerife's most sensitive natural areas, Titsa will increase services on bus lines 355 and 462 from Wednesday to Saturday.

Rosa Dávila, president of the Tenerife Island Council, stated that taking direct control of the service is a crucial step to ensure more consistent and sustainable management of Masca, strengthening the protection of its natural environment. She added that this change allows for better planning and coordination, ensuring that transport aligns with the ravine's conservation.

Blanca Pérez, the Minister for the Natural Environment, emphasized that Masca requires active and very careful management. She said this change helps prioritize conservation and safety, and that the measures aim to protect this ecologically and scenically valuable area for the long term.

Eulalia García, the Minister for Mobility, highlighted that integrating the service into Titsa will boost bus frequencies, improve operations, and offer more organized, safe, and sustainable access for both residents and visitors. García pointed out that public transport is essential for reducing pressure on the roads and preventing congestion in such a delicate environment.

It's important to note that access to Masca village, located in Buenavista del Norte, was restricted for certain vehicles last May. Around the same time, traffic authorities banned passenger transport vehicles longer than 10 meters from using the TF-436 road due to repeated traffic and safety problems on this mountain route.
