Over 4 tons of obsolete pesticides have been collected in Tenerife as part of a program to clear the island of hazardous agricultural waste.

In Tenerife, over 4 tons of old pesticides were collected!

The local authorities (Cabildo de Tenerife) have removed 4,085 kilograms of unwanted fertilizers and pesticides in the south of the island. This is part of a large program to get rid of old and prohibited substances used to treat fields, in order to protect people and nature.

Valentin Gonzalez, who is in charge of agriculture, says that they want to help farmers follow the rules, because currently there is no established system on the island where such waste can be disposed of.

Containers of various harmful substances are collected: insecticides (against insects), herbicides (against weeds), fungicides (against fungi), rodenticides (against rodents), and others.

Everything has already been done in the south, and in October, collection will take place in the north from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Finally, in March 2026, they plan to clean up everything in the metropolitan area, with the aim of completely clearing the island of hazardous waste.
