Tenerife Council Launches Final Phase of Las Eras Coastline Renovation
The Tenerife Island Council has launched a €791,355 tender to complete the modernization and accessibility renovation of the Las Eras coastline in Fasnia.
The Tenerife Island Council has opened the bidding process for the final phase of the Las Eras coastline renovation in Fasnia. This project aims to modernize the area and improve accessibility for local residents from Fasnia and Arico, as well as the many divers who visit the coast.
The project has a budget of 791,355 euros and is part of the "Tenerife and the Sea 2026-2030" program, which focuses on balancing tourism with environmental protection and better public facilities. The work is expected to take eight months to complete. It is a joint effort between the Island Council, which is providing 651,001 euros, and the Fasnia City Council, which is contributing 105,365 euros.
The renovation will significantly change the look and feel of the promenade. The current reddish pavement will be replaced with tiles that match the nearby square, and artificial granite will be used where the path meets the ravine. A major focus is accessibility: the plan includes redesigned ramps and stairs, new handrails, tactile paving, and a walkway that leads directly to the water.
Beyond the paving, the project includes a full upgrade of street furniture and services. This involves new lighting, benches, trash cans, and showers, along with the restoration of walls and metal fixtures. Divers will benefit from two new adapted changing rooms and a shaded area with benches, connected to the showers by a wooden walkway.
This tender follows the 2023 reconstruction of the breakwater, which cost 516,393 euros and was essential for protecting the coast from waves. With this final phase, the Island Council hopes to transform Las Eras into a modern, functional landmark for the southern coast.
