Tenerife Council Launches €1.5 Million Employment and Training Initiative
The Tenerife Island Council has launched a 1.5 million euro funding initiative partnering with non-profit organizations to provide specialized training and employment support for vulnerable job seekers.
The Tenerife Island Council has officially launched a new funding strategy to boost the local job market. Published in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) this Monday, the initiative sets aside 1.5 million euros to support non-profit organizations in running employment and training programs.
Instead of providing direct payments to individuals, the Council is partnering with non-profits to offer guidance, mentoring, and training for residents aged 16 and older. The program specifically targets those who face the greatest challenges in finding work, including the long-term unemployed, people over 45, individuals with disabilities, migrants, victims of gender-based violence, and those at risk of social exclusion.
The funding is divided into three key areas:
- 600,000 euros for personal services and projects linking culture, creativity, and heritage to economic growth.
- 500,000 euros for the "blue economy" and sustainable development.
- 400,000 euros for efficient construction and the industrial sector.
To qualify, organizations must submit proposals with budgets between 50,000 and 250,000 euros. The Council will prioritize projects that demonstrate innovation, help diversify the economy, and promote environmental sustainability.
By working with these social organizations, the Council aims to provide more effective, personalized support to job seekers. Efraín Medina, the Minister of Employment, Education, and Youth, highlighted that this specialized approach is essential for helping those furthest from the workforce gain the skills and confidence needed to secure stable employment.
