The Tenerife Island Council has awarded 86,000 euros to the University of La Laguna to expand its cultural outreach and strengthen the connection between academic research and the local community.

The Tenerife Island Council (Cabildo de Tenerife) has granted 86,000 euros to the University of La Laguna (ULL), signaling a commitment to bridge the gap between academia and the wider community. The funding aims to expand the university’s cultural reach, ensuring that research and creative projects extend well beyond the campus.

The budget is divided into two main areas. First, 12,000 euros will support the performing arts and concert series at the Paraninfo, the university’s central cultural hub. The remaining 74,000 euros will fund a broader range of cultural initiatives, including literature, visual arts, critical thinking, and cultural theory.

This partnership reflects the ongoing need for public universities to secure external funding for outreach. By supporting these programs, the Cabildo helps the university share its academic work with the people of Tenerife, fulfilling its role in social responsibility.

As a targeted grant, these funds are specifically designed to help the ULL act as a key cultural player on the island. By blending research with artistic practice, the university hopes to deepen public understanding of the humanities and create a stronger connection between intellectual work and creative expression for the benefit of the community.
