Tenerife’s Island Council has invested over two million euros in digital modernization while launching new grant programs to support local businesses, agriculture, and LGTBIQ+ initiatives.

Tenerife’s local government reached a major milestone in digitalization over the last fiscal year, according to the Island Council. Under the leadership of Rosa Dávila, the Council has invested over two million euros to modernize municipal services and cut through red tape. This initiative allowed the Comprehensive Assistance Office to process 401,000 files in 2025, supported by a training program that helped 700 civil servants master new management tools.

The shift is also changing how the Council interacts with the public. Last year, the office handled more than 91,500 people and managed over 109,800 appointments. The "Digital Face-to-Face" program is central to this effort, aiming to streamline scheduling and provide staff with more efficient technology. These changes help the Council meet the requirements of national administrative laws while keeping pace with the public's demand for faster, digital services.

Beyond administrative updates, the Council has focused on several other key areas:

  • Equality: A budget of 75,000 euros has been approved to support LGTBIQ+ visibility and rights through project grants.
  • Industry: Vice President Lope Afonso announced a 365,000-euro grant program to help local businesses cover the full cost of updating their commercial signage.
  • Agriculture: The Council is supporting the island’s wine industry with new innovation grants. Offering up to 15,000 euros per project, the program aims to encourage scientific research and sustainability in a sector vital to Tenerife’s economy and landscape.

Together, these measures represent a broader plan to combine modern public management with direct support for the island’s social and economic growth.
