Tenerife Council Approves €638,000 Upgrade for Key La Laguna Road
The Tenerife Island Council has approved a €638,610 project to resurface a key section of the TF-111 road in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, with public consultation now open for the four-month renovation plan.
The Tenerife Island Council has approved plans to upgrade a key section of the TF-111 road in San Cristóbal de La Laguna. This project aims to repair significant wear and tear on a vital route that connects the island’s most populated urban areas.
The renovation, which has a budget of €638,610.35, will focus on resurfacing the road between kilometer markers 9+400 and 10+250. Dámaso Arteaga, the Island Councilor for Roads, has opened a 20-working-day period for the public to review the technical plans. Once the contract is awarded, the construction work is expected to take four months to complete.
Local officials view this as the first step in a larger urban improvement plan. La Laguna Mayor Luis Yeray Gutiérrez noted that the city council and the island administration are working together on future phases, which will include adding new parking spaces, building sidewalks, and installing traffic-calming measures.
This project is essential due to the high volume of traffic on this route, which requires regular maintenance to ensure safety and road durability. The improvements are part of a broader effort by the Island Council to manage traffic flow in one of the Canary Islands' busiest regions. Members of the public can submit feedback through the council’s online portal before the consultation period ends.
