Tenerife Council Approves €2 Million Resurfacing Project for Arafo’s TF-523 Road
The Tenerife Island Council has approved a nearly two-million-euro project to resurface the TF-523 road in Arafo, with work expected to take four months once the tender process is complete.
Road improvements in southern Tenerife are moving forward after the island council approved a plan to resurface the TF-523 road in Arafo. The project aims to upgrade this vital route, which handles a high volume of both private cars and heavy freight traffic.
The project has a budget of 1,989,336 euros. José Miguel Ruano, the council’s second vice president, confirmed that the plan has passed all necessary technical reviews, including support from the Arafo City Council, accessibility approval from Sinpromi, and clearance from the Island Water Council.
The plan is now open for public review for 20 working days. If no objections are raised, the council will move forward with the tender process. Once the contract is awarded and the site is handed over, the roadwork is expected to take four months to complete.
This project is part of an ongoing effort to keep transport infrastructure safe and efficient. Because the TF-523 is a key artery, it requires regular maintenance to handle heavy use. The council emphasizes that moving quickly on these repairs is essential to prevent road deterioration, which impacts both the local economy and the quality of life for residents in the south.
