Tenerife Council Approves €1.84 Million Renovation for Buenavista del Norte

The Tenerife Island Council has given initial approval to a major renovation plan for Buenavista del Norte, focusing on Avenida de la Constitución and the Los Cabildos neighborhood. The 1.84 million euro project will take 14 months to complete, with the island administration funding 90% of the cost and the local council covering the remaining 10%.

This project is part of a broader strategy to modernize infrastructure in rural areas. Key changes include narrowing Avenida de la Constitución to a single lane to improve pedestrian access and safety. Additionally, the streets of El Faro, Álvarez de Vento, Ajoque, and Los Verodes will undergo essential upgrades to their water, sewage, drainage, and telecommunications networks.

The plan also prioritizes environmental and aesthetic improvements. New, energy-efficient LED streetlights—approved by the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands—will be installed to protect the night sky. In Los Cabildos, overhead cables currently attached to building facades will be moved underground to improve both the area's appearance and the safety of the electrical systems.

This investment is part of an ongoing partnership between the Island Council and local municipalities. By upgrading urban infrastructure, the initiative aims to improve the quality of life in smaller towns and ensure that peripheral areas receive the same standard of services as the rest of the island. With this initial approval, the project now moves into the next stage of the administrative process before construction begins.
