The 17th annual Band, Orchestra, and Choir Conducting Course concludes this Friday with a free public concert at the Auditorio de Tenerife featuring works led by instructors José Suñer-Oriola, Carlos Garcés, and Vivian Gutiérrez.

The 17th annual Band, Orchestra, and Choir Conducting Course, hosted by the Tenerife Federation of Music Bands, concludes this Friday at 7:30 p.m. with a public performance at the Auditorio de Tenerife. Admission is free until the venue reaches capacity. The concert marks the end of a training program that began on the 17th, led by instructors José Suñer-Oriola, Carlos Garcés, and Vivian Gutiérrez.

The event serves as both a graduation for the students and a highlight of the partnership between the Cabildo of Tenerife and the Federation. This collaboration supports key island initiatives, including the "Musical Spring" concert series and the youth band meeting held each December.

The concert program features two distinct parts. Vivian Gutiérrez will open the evening by conducting Pascual Marquina Narro’s Lorencín Mendoza (1939). José Suñer-Oriola will then lead the ensemble through his own works, Euphonium Concerto—featuring soloist Mauro Alonso Fariña—and Overture 40. Carlos Garcés will conduct Images, and Vivian Gutiérrez will return to the stage to close the concert with El jardín de Hera.

These courses are vital for the professional development of conductors on the island, ensuring that local music bands continue to thrive. By bringing in experts like Suñer-Oriola, Garcés, and Gutiérrez, Tenerife’s institutions demonstrate their ongoing commitment to raising the artistic standards of the island’s musical groups.
