Tenerife’s capital has launched a 1.6-million-euro urban renewal project in the Los Gladiolos neighborhood to transform disused sports facilities into a modern hub for urban skating and cycling.

Tenerife’s capital has begun a major urban renewal project in the Los Gladiolos neighborhood, starting with the renovation of its old sports facilities. The City Council plans to transform the currently disused site into a hub for urban sports and sliding disciplines. The 1.6-million-euro project is funded by the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Tenerife, with construction company Ecocivil expected to complete the work within ten months.

This project aims to broaden the city’s sports offerings. The new complex will feature the city’s first "pump track"—a circuit designed for BMX bikes, skateboards, and skates—complementing existing facilities at Avenida de Anaga and La Granja Park. The site will be divided into three main areas: a primary zone for BMX and the pump track, a 3x3 basketball court, a training area for all skill levels, and an open skating track. The design also incorporates green spaces and shaded areas to encourage community interaction. The City Council plans to partner with local clubs to host competitions and training sessions at the new site.

In a separate development, the city has finished repaving the access road to Valleseco. Part of the "Urban Impulse" program, these repairs were designed to improve road safety. Traffic and parking restrictions in the area have now been lifted, and normal traffic flow has resumed. These projects are part of the City Council’s ongoing strategy to maintain infrastructure and revitalize public spaces across the capital.
