Tenerife Cabildo Offers 340 International Study Scholarships for Students
The Cabildo of Tenerife is investing 3.87 million euros to offer 340 merit-based linguistic immersion scholarships for secondary and high school students to study in Ireland, Canada, France, and the United States between 2027 and 2029.
The Cabildo of Tenerife is expanding its commitment to international education by offering 340 spots for linguistic immersion programs abroad. With a budget of 3.87 million euros, this initiative will provide secondary (ESO) and high school (Bachillerato) students the chance to study in Ireland, Canada, France, and the United States between 2027 and 2029.
Selection for these programs is based on academic merit. To qualify, students must have a minimum grade point average of 7.50 and meet a family income limit of 20,000 euros per capita. By prioritizing socioeconomic equity in the event of a tie, the administration aims to make these international opportunities accessible to more families, regardless of their financial background.
The program is divided into three categories:
- Full-year immersion: 30 spots to complete the fourth year of ESO in Ireland.
- Term immersion: 210 scholarships for students to spend the first term of their fourth year of ESO abroad, living with local host families.
- Dual program: 100 spots split between the United States and Canada for students entering their fourth year of ESO in 2026/2027. This hybrid program combines online and in-person learning over two years of Bachillerato, including a summer stay of at least four weeks abroad.
These programs are designed to help students gain the language skills and adaptability needed for a globalized job market. Living in a foreign academic environment helps students build independence and prepares them for the demands of higher education.
Applications will open following the official announcement in the Provincial Gazette, with a final deadline of October 13, 2026. All applications must be submitted online through the Cabildo’s electronic office. Applicants must be residents of Tenerife and currently enrolled in schools on the island. Through this initiative, the Cabildo hopes to provide students with valuable experiences beyond the classroom, better preparing them for the future.
