The Cabildo de Tenerife has adjusted the yearly funding and extended deadlines for the renovation of the Cine Teatro de Buenavista, including new allocations for 2029, to ensure the cultural venue's completion and proper financial management.

Managing large public building projects, especially those that take many years to complete, often requires flexible funding. This allows the project to adapt to how fast the work is actually done and to properly account for the money spent. In this spirit, the Cabildo de Tenerife has adjusted the yearly funding for the renovation of the Cine Teatro de Buenavista. This move aims to ensure this important cultural venue in the Isla Baja area gets finished.

The Governing Council approved this decision on Monday. It was necessary because some expenses couldn't be accounted for by the original deadlines. To fix this, new funding has been set aside for 2029, while some of the money planned for 2026 and 2027 has been cancelled. Additionally, the deadlines for spending and reporting on the yearly funds from 2018 to 2027 have been reviewed and extended until 2027.

The Cine Teatro de Buenavista project is part of the Cultural Infrastructure Plan (originally 2016-2021, now extended to 2029). Its total budget is 5,462,879 euros, which was approved on October 2, 2025. The Cabildo is providing 4,916,591 euros, and the Buenavista del Norte City Council is contributing 546,287 euros. The 1,803,394 euros allocated for 2029 will go straight to the Buenavista del Norte city council to complete the construction.

Lope Afonso, the island's Vice-President, explained that this budget change is a sensible way to manage funds, making sure the financial plans match the actual progress of the work. He said its goal is to protect public money and ensure the Cine Teatro is finished in the coming years, showing the island's dedication to improving cultural facilities everywhere. José Carlos Acha, the Councillor for Culture, Museums, and Sports, added that extending the deadlines until 2027 makes the project more legally secure and stable, which will help with its smooth completion and the proper accounting of funds. Mr. Acha also stressed that the future Cine Teatro will boost cultural activities in the Isla Baja area, giving citizens better and wider access to cultural events.

Through this action, the Cabildo de Tenerife highlights its commitment to developing culture evenly across the island. It aims to strengthen facilities that help bring people together and enrich the island's cultural life.
