Tenerife Cabildo Approves €2M Titsa Escalator Upgrade
The Cabildo of Tenerife will invest nearly two million euros to upgrade and expand the escalator system at the Titsa transport hub in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, benefiting 60,000 daily users.
The Cabildo of Tenerife announced this Wednesday that it will upgrade and expand the escalator system at the Titsa transport hub in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, a project costing nearly two million euros.
José Miguel Ruano, a Vice-President and Councillor for the Cabildo of Tenerife, explained at a press conference that this is a much-needed project. It will benefit the more than 60,000 people who use the transport hub every day. This initiative is part of a wider effort to make the island's public transport stations more modern, comfortable, and accessible.
Eulalia García, the island's Mobility Councillor, stated that the project will replace the four existing escalators in the transport hub, which are over 20 years old and frequently break down.
García added that the plan also includes four new escalators. This addition aims to allow two-way travel, both up and down, on all floors and sections of the station.
The estimated cost for the Titsa project is precisely 1,948,588.47 euros.
Of this total, 1,888,865.83 euros are allocated for the installation of the eight escalators, and 59,722.64 euros are for renovating the low-voltage electrical system that powers them.
Companies interested in the project can submit their bids until February 3rd. Once the contract is awarded, the work is expected to take seven months to complete.
