For Film Lovers TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes will screen "Balearic," a thriller by Ion de Sosa, this weekend at 7:00 PM. Shot on 16mm film, it tells the story of young people trapped by Doberman dogs in a luxury pool in Mallorca, exploring themes of generational differences and class inequality. The film, starring Lara Gallo and Christina Rosenvinge, premiered internationally in Locarno and nationally in Sitges, and was nominated for a Goya for Best New Director. It will be shown in its original Spanish version.
Carnival Continues The internationally renowned Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival keeps its festive schedule going. On Saturday, ten groups will compete in the comparsas contest at the Exhibition Center, starting at 8:00 PM. The family program concludes at 5:00 PM with Baruti Teatro, a Spanish-Greek company, performing "The Mystery of the East," a musical puppet show about a young man who dreams of becoming a magician and journeys through the desert.
Musical Notes La Laguna offers two significant musical events. Canarian singer-songwriter Pedro Guerra will perform his latest work, "Parceiros," in a sold-out concert at the Paraninfo of the University of La Laguna on Sunday at 7:30 PM.
