Tenerife and the Canary Islands can expect a weather shift on Thursday, November 20th, with rain and potential snow on Teide, followed by a yellow rain alert for La Palma on Friday.

Get ready for a surprise weather change on Thursday, November 20th. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) is predicting light to moderate rain, with snow possible on Teide at elevations around 2300-2400 meters.

Tenerife will generally see a lot of high clouds, with only a little low cloud cover. This is expected to change to partly cloudy skies after midday, especially in the north, southwest, and east later in the day.

Temperatures will stay about the same, though maximums might drop slightly in higher areas and on the northern slopes. Expect light northeasterly winds that will pick up to a moderate breeze in the afternoon. The highest peaks will experience easterly winds, and there will be sea breezes along the west coast.

Across the rest of the Canary Islands, expect plenty of high clouds. Lanzarote and Fuerteventura might see some cloudy spells with a small chance of light, scattered showers.

On the other islands, the morning will start with partly cloudy skies, becoming more overcast on the north and south slopes. Light showers are generally likely, turning into snow above 2400 meters.

Temperatures will remain fairly stable or drop slightly. Light northeasterly winds are expected, becoming moderate in the afternoon. Easterly winds will be found on the highest peaks, and sea breezes will be common on the west coasts of the larger islands.

Looking ahead to Friday, a yellow alert for rain has been issued for La Palma, affecting the eastern part of the island from midday.
