Tenerife is celebrating Halloween and the traditional "Finados" customs this year with a diverse array of island-wide events ranging from immersive horror attractions to cultural heritage festivities.

This October 31st, Tenerife is blending global Halloween traditions with the revival of local "Finados" customs. Across the island, municipalities and local groups have organized a wide variety of events, ranging from family-friendly activities to immersive horror experiences, many of which support local charities and celebrate Canarian heritage.

Public spaces are being transformed into themed settings for the festivities. In Tacoronte, a private home has been turned into a haunted attraction, while Candelaria’s Youth Zone is incorporating traditional soul rituals into its program. El Rosario is hosting a high-intensity experience at the CIFE in Lomo Pelado, where entry is conditional on a food donation. Meanwhile, La Victoria de Acentejo and Adeje are offering a mix of terror tunnels, virtual reality, and children’s entertainment.

Activity is concentrated in the capital and surrounding areas. San Cristóbal de La Laguna will host its popular zombie walk on November 1st at Plaza del Adelantado, complete with live performances and contests. In Santa Cruz, shopping centers like Meridiano and Nivaria Center are joining the celebrations, while Espacio Price is hosting a horror film series. In the north, Puerto de la Cruz and El Sauzal are focusing on family events, including workshops, live music, and costume contests, with Los Realejos adding a unique twist through events dedicated to gaming and robotics.

Despite the popularity of Halloween, Canarian identity remains central to the celebrations. The "Finados" tradition is being honored in towns like Candelaria, El Rosario, La Guancha, and La Orotava, where residents can enjoy traditional food tastings, musical performances, and storytelling focused on local legends.

Because many events require prior registration or tickets—such as those in Candelaria and La Guancha—attendees are encouraged to check access requirements in advance. It is also recommended to confirm event details, as some locations, like El Sauzal, have moved activities indoors to account for potential weather changes.
