Tenerife B defeated Las Palmas Atlético 1-0 in the away derby of the Segunda Federación, thanks to a goal by Giovanni García.
Tenerife B had a great start in Segunda Federación! In the away derby, they defeated Las Palmas Atlético with a score of 1:0. The Tenerife team quickly took the lead thanks to Giovanni's goal and confidently held the defense, even though Las Palmas tried to equalize.
Tenerife B immediately took control of the game. Mauro Costa had a chance to open the scoring, but the Las Palmas defenders prevented him from doing so. In the 9th minute, Ibarra broke through to the goal and passed back, and Giovanni scored decisively – 1:0!
Leandro Cabrera's team didn't stop there. Ibarra could have scored another, but missed slightly. Then Omar Sanchez also had an opportunity to increase the lead. Las Palmas responded towards the end of the half, when Diego Martín forced goalkeeper Sergio Aragones to work.
In the second half, Las Palmas became more active, but Tenerife played calmly, trying to catch their opponent on counterattacks. Arturo almost equalized, but a Tenerife defender saved the situation at the last moment.
At the end of the match, Las Palmas began to rush, but their attacks were not very sharp. Loren Sanchez could have put an end to the match, but failed to convert his chance. So, 1:0 – a victory for Tenerife B!
Interestingly, out of the 14 new players that Tenerife signed this summer, ten took to the field. Among them was the author of the winning goal – Giovanni Garcia. The starting lineup also included defenders Kevin Martel and Guillem Trilla, midfielders Alberto Ulloa and Mauro Costa, and forwards Omar Sanchez, Juan Ibarra, and Loren Sanchez. And Quimet Garcia and Walid Meddeb came on as substitutes.
Tenerife B had a successful start to the season, just like last year, their debut in Segunda RFEF. They also won the first match then. Now Tenerife will try to consolidate their success with a home victory. On Sunday, at the Geneto-Los Baldíos stadium, they will play Quintanar del Rey. By the way, Mazinho will be able to count on Borna Ivandic, who missed the derby due to playing for the Croatian U-18 national team.
