Tenerife B Fall 3-1 to Fuenlabrada at Home
Tenerife B's defensive errors led to a 3-1 home loss against Fuenlabrada, causing them to fall from first to fourth in the promotion playoff zone.
Tenerife B paid the price for their mistakes, losing 3-1 at home to Fuenlabrada at the Javier Pérez Sports City. Fuenlabrada didn't need many opportunities to secure the three points. While Tenerife B controlled possession throughout the match, Fuenlabrada defended well, scoring first from a penalty and then capitalizing on two defensive errors from Mazinho's side to extend their lead.
The game began with both teams trying to control possession, but neither created any clear scoring chances. After about fifteen minutes, the referee awarded Fuenlabrada a penalty when Kevin fouled Pescador during a corner kick. Santiestebean then converted the spot-kick, putting Fuenlabrada ahead.
Just a minute later, Fuenlabrada doubled their lead. Taking advantage of Tenerife B's dip in morale, Montes crossed the ball from the right, and Carlos Bravo, unmarked near the six-yard box, scored with a diving header.
Now two goals ahead, Fuenlabrada gave up possession and played a more defensive game, aiming to slow the pace. Despite this, they still threatened Tenerife B's goal with quick counter-attacks.
After the break, Tenerife B pressed hard for a goal. Their persistence paid off ten minutes into the second half when Omar's corner kick was headed in by Trilla.
Just as Tenerife B seemed close to an equalizer, Fuenlabrada struck again. Isma Fernández intercepted a back-pass from Giovanni and scored easily in a one-on-one situation. With the score now 3-1, Fuenlabrada defended deeply, focusing on stopping the constant attacks from Tenerife B, who played with passion but lacked creative ideas.
Despite the loss, CD Tenerife B remains in the promotion playoff zone for Primera Federación. However, they've dropped from first to fourth place in just two matchdays. While they suffered a 1-0 defeat in Alcalá – a game where they played better than their opponents and even missed a penalty that would have leveled the score – their biggest problem lies at home, at the Sports City. Out of their five wins in nine matches this season, four have come away from home. At home, they've only managed one win in four games, which was against Quintanar on the second matchday. Since then, their home results include a draw against Conquense and losses to Socuéllamos and Fuenlabrada. This means they've collected only four out of a possible twelve points at home (33%), a stark contrast to the 80% of points they've earned away.
