Arona police have launched a crackdown on illegal street vending along Tenerife’s Las Vistas promenade to protect local businesses and maintain order in tourist areas.

Authorities in Tenerife have stepped up their efforts to crack down on illegal street vending in the island's busiest tourist areas.

The Arona Local Police recently conducted a surveillance operation along the Las Vistas promenade in Los Cristianos to stop the unauthorized sale of goods. During the operation, officers seized a large amount of merchandise that lacked the necessary permits.

This action is part of an ongoing strategy by the local council to keep high-traffic areas clear and orderly. The city has two main goals: to protect local businesses that pay taxes and follow regulations from unfair competition, and to maintain the island's reputation as a safe and welcoming destination for tourists.

Héctor Reyes, Arona’s Councilor for Security, emphasized that these regular patrols are essential for maintaining order in public spaces. The City Council maintains that unlicensed vending is not only against the law but also disrupts the use of pedestrian areas. Officials have confirmed they will continue these patrols to ensure that both residents and visitors can enjoy a safe and well-managed environment.
