Canary Islands gallery Bibli is presenting works by Tenerife artist José Herrera at Drawing Room Lisboa this week.

Drawing Room Lisboa, a popular art fair in Lisbon, Portugal, is happening this Thursday to Sunday. Among the exhibitors is Bibli, an art gallery from the Canary Islands. You can find Bibli at 15 Calle de San Francisco Javier in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Bibli is showcasing recent works by Tenerife artist José Herrera at the National Society of Fine Arts in Lisbon, the venue for this important international contemporary drawing event.

Herrera, born in Tenerife in 1956, is a well-respected artist known for his consistent and dedicated work. He emerged in the 1980s and was part of a group that helped revitalize the art scene in the Canary Islands.

During that time, the islands developed a unique artistic style, drawing more inspiration from Central European and Latin American trends than from the rest of Spain.

Herrera's work can be found in the collections of prestigious institutions such as the Reina Sofía National Art Centre (Madrid), the La Caixa Foundation (Barcelona), the Bank of Spain (Madrid), the Patio Herreriano Museum (Valladolid), the Atlantic Center of Modern Art (CAAM, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), and TEA Tenerife Arts Space, among others.
