Tenerife Approves €8 Million Modernization Plan for Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium
The Tenerife Island Council has approved an 8-million-euro modernization plan for the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium, targeting essential facility upgrades over an 18-month construction period.
The Tenerife Island Council has approved the initial technical plans to modernize the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium, marking a major step forward for the venue. This first phase of the stadium's Master Plan has a budget of over 8 million euros and is expected to take 18 months to complete.
The project aims to fix years of wear and tear caused by a lack of maintenance. Key improvements include a complete overhaul of the changing rooms, a modern upgrade to the press room to meet current broadcasting standards, and the remodeling of the tunnel leading to the pitch.
Local officials describe the investment as a necessary step to improve the stadium’s functionality and overall quality. Before construction can begin, the project must undergo a 20-day public review period following its publication in the Official Gazette of the Province.
A major challenge for the project will be coordinating construction with CD Tenerife’s schedule. Because the stadium remains in constant use, work must be carefully planned to ensure that matches can continue without disruption from building crews or machinery. The official start date will be confirmed once the public review period ends, the tendering process is complete, and a construction firm is selected.
